The Saturday Gig (Homegrown) was quite…nerveracking. Because we were perfomring between the Super Cool Reza Salleh, and the AWSOMELY of ALL JAZZ SABAHAN AWSOMENESS Mia Palencia! We prolly just felt good the fact that we didnt play AFTER Mia. cause seriously, i think the woman should just have her own Concert by now. I’d totally go! She’s awsome.
We performed 5 songs. At first when we arrived we thought that we were gonna perform at the little mini stage provided from the Homegrown crew right next to the Bentley Studio’s counter. We saw a few camera crew setting up with a small audience sitting in chairs facing the small stage. We met Uzair the producer and he led us upstairs instead. We were thinking like..”Oh ok maybe he wants to show us where we can wait or set up some stuff…orprolly just sign some papers. I dont know.” We got up, walked towards for huge wooden entrance doors…Entered in, and KEDEBUK my heart, We were in the huge Auditorium.
The space of the stage was like… Huge. The space of where the audience would be watching from, was wide and massive. It looked like a ballroom area. With Black curtins hanging at the back and two Camera men setting up their cameras on each corner facing towards the stage. On the stage we saw a man doing some soundcheck with the Drumset. Huge Marshal amps, stage amps, Fender amps, pre amps, soundsystems were neatly positioned on stage along side with extra guitars and bass. Above us, behind us… was the master sound system control room where we could only see sillouhettes moving around with headphones on their heads.
The four of us looked at each other wondering, asking with our expressions “what’s going on?”. Uzair told us we were gonna perform here. And the crowed will be sitting on the carpet floor just relaxing and enjoying the show by 4pm. We were up first for soundcheck.
When we saw the stage…. i think we got nervous. I think i panicked. I actually snapped a string during soundcheck. couldnt fix the sound i wanted on the amp, Shuk and Hakka had to help me buy some strings…Then as they walked out to the shop, Mia Palencia entered with her band. I stopped strumming and saw her entered carrying her guitar case and her AnR amp, laughing with her friends as they set their stuff on the side of the stage. Adi asked me to start playing… But in my head it was saying…”what are you doing here? They’re Pro’s! Who are you??”
After soundcheck, Adi and the Band calmed me down. and i did. Alan fixed my string. Hakka and Shuk made me laugh. And Adi held my hand all the way back in time for the show. before the show started, Reza came up to me and gave me cool music career advice. While he was performing, we were at the backstage dancing to his tunes just trying to loosen up. Then it was our turn. We gave each other high fives, and got on stage.

Before i started the first song, i announce the crowd who i was and where i’m from. And a few peeps starting WooHooing and the “I’m from KK Sabah” part. So i greeted them back by saying…”Aramaiteeeeeiii!!!”, and they all clapped and woohoooed some more. I think the cool part was that the audience were awsome enough to clap along to my songs and sang with me when i asked them to. Another cool part was i couldnt see the audience cause as you can see clearly, the bright studio lights were beaming right through my eyes, there fore blinding me, therefore, making me less nervous on focusing on the crowd. Hahaha. After the set, we got off stage, and smiled at each other. Although we were shy and nervous, i think we did pretty alright. And we were happy. I think i enjoyed Mia’s performance the most. I seriously love that woman’s performance and showmanship. She is totally, without a doubt, and awsome singer, musician, songwriter, performer, entertainer, cool lady.

After the show, we were beat. Still we had time to go crash at the Twin’s birthday BBQ bash and eat their food. hahaha!
The next morning we head off to Central Market, Annexe Art Gallery to get ready for Wani’s Tiga Venus Bintang Jatuh 09 gig. Was looking forward to it, because i wanted to watch Fynn Jamal and also be proud for Wani’s hard work in organizing an Event that she had dreamed of. Wani my dear, i’m so proud of you. honestly. Really am. The event was awsome. yet i’m sorry i didnt get to stay for the second set. But still it was amazing. And We really had a great time performing. Although our good friend/photographer is in the process of getting the photos ready, i kinda had to pinjam/copypaste some photos from some people who went to the show as well. Sorry Omar, harap saya boleh pakai gambar ini yah? Makasih kerna mengambil gambar gambar sangat cantik.

I think this gig was much more relaxing and fun! We seriously had fun playing on stage. Cause the audience were cool all dressed in White. (I didnt get the memo that the theme was white). But again, yeah had a great time. Wani performed a cool set, and i got to hear Lampu Jalan for the first time. (eh ngam ka tu wani? Tiang lampu ka, lampu jalan?). Her voice sounds much better too. Fynn was superb. I was impressed. Very much. Ana Rafali performed some new songs, and i like them alot. Very talented. Tho at the end of the day, Ana and i somehow accidentally took each others Jack Cable’s by mistake. hahahah… Sorry Ana.
After the gig, Adi and i decided to take the band for a treat. We ate the biggest pizza (in kl la…) we could ever find and were super full! punya basarrrrr itu pizzaaa! 18 inch woah! Pimpin yo!
After that we went to watch Terminator Salvation. After that we couldnt find the exit to the carpark at One U.
After that i couldnt go home cause my landlord changed the locks and forgot to tell me. So i had to stay over at Adi’s house for the third night.
After that, i went to work, and slept half day.
And now i’m sleepy. hahaha
Wanna say thanks for all your support. For all of you who support my music, and the Local indie music Scene.
Peace. Night.
